“It’s not always a good place to go...The past.”

Glorious 39
Written and Directed by Stephen Poliakoff

This time it is in the capable hands of Director Stephen Poliakoff* The story, is epic and at the same time personal taking place at the “end of the country house side of England*” Mr. Poliakoff is Hitchcock at the nexus of history, it is not a period piece yet the period is responsible for the noir-ish atmosphere. “We’re drop down into history, not watching from above*”

A young woman from a powerful, political family stumbles upon a sinister discovery with dangerous consequences, evidence relating to the pro-appeasement movement

This is a suspenseful thriller skillfully written with a certain rhythm taking into account the hindsight of the harrows of war. When a boy standing in a hall, a glass of lemonade and a pair of shoes can cause havoc who done it, why done it, how done it becomes very important no need for car chases or fighting.

The director casts brilliantly Romola Garia as the daughter of Bill Nighy and eminent parliamentarian but not a cabinet minister.

Jeremy Northam as the Secret service agent. Julie Christe, Christopher Lee and David Tennet round out this cast, in all too brief roles.

This juicy British thriller produces just that thrills and chills.
 Cheers, Enjoy
